Collection and manipulation of data from biological collections; manipulation of vector and matrix data using R and QGIS; classification of rare species based on geographic range, habitat types, and population size.

Overview:

Introduction to GIS in R and QGIS for Landscape Modelling; structure and storage of spatial data for landscape analysis; effects of spatial scales on climate patterns; interpolation and map algebra applied to landscape; landscape metrics; study of the spatiotemporal dynamics of landscapes; landscape ecosystem services; landscape ecology applied to spatial planning.
